How did the united state respond to the holocaust

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no one reacted to the holocaust at all. the truth is, during the war no one even really knew about the holocaust. after the war when it was revealed, it was over, and there was nothing more to be done regarding it.

No problem :)

That answer is partially true. While most CITIZENS of most countries were not aware, the governments of the United States and Great Britain were both aware of the harsh treatment of Jews as early as 1941, and had complete evidence of it by 1942. There were many proposals to attempt to do something, such as bombing the trains that delivered them to prison camps, however nothing was ever done. The United States even rejected temporary refuge requests from Jews.
