OpenStudy (lucaz):

how to rearrenge the equation of ellipse(center 0,0) (x/a)^2+(y/b)^2=1 -> x^2+y^2=( ) ?

hartnn (hartnn):

why do u want to do that ?

OpenStudy (lucaz):

just wondering if there is a way to compare with a circle

hartnn (hartnn):

Ellipse is a circle if and only if a=b

hartnn (hartnn):

so lets first take the a=b case and find the radius

OpenStudy (lucaz):

yeah, I know that..

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, then if a is not b then you cannot compare it to a circle

OpenStudy (lucaz):

I tried something but I got (xb)^2+(ya)^2=(ab)2 is that right?

hartnn (hartnn):

means you multiplied throughout by (ab)^2 that gives you equation of ELLIPSE only, in another form

OpenStudy (lucaz):

alright, thank you

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
