A trolley consists of a pressed steel section as shown below. At each end there are rollers at 350 mm centres. The trolley supports a mass of 50kg evenly distributed over the 350 mm length. (a) Calculate the maximum compressive and tensile stress due to bending in the pressed steel section. State clearly all assumptions that you make. (b) Make a diagram showing the distribution of bending stress over the depth of the beam. (c) Determine the support reactions, hence draw the shear force diagram (SF) and the bending moment.
