Northside Picnic Grounds is shaped like a triangle. Two perpendicular sides of the grounds measure 1.8 miles and 2.5 miles. What is the area of the picnic grounds? A.2.15 mi² B.2.25 mi² C.4.3 mi² D.4.5 mi²

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so you have to use the formula bh/2 like i showed u earlier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the two sides are perpendicular that means they form a right angle, and the measurements they give you therefore are the height and base

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just wasnt sure what the base was

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it doesnt really matter because they are being multiplied, (example: 2x4=8 and 4x2=8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you would plug them in the formula and get (1.8x2.5)/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1.8 * 2.5) / 2 = 2.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

Okay so- When I do teh B*H/2, The Height ISNT the sides right?
