the value of csc 138 degrees23min rounded to four decimal places is?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[138^{o}23'=138 \frac{23}{60}^{o}=138.38333...^{o}\]

OpenStudy (mathmale):

In your shoes, here's what I'd do: (1) convert 138 deg 23 min to degrees alone. (2) find the sine of the resulting angle (with calculator in Degree mode). (3) find the reciprocal of the result from (2).

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Find the sin of that angle and take the reciprocal

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Mertsj has generously taken care of (1), and has proposed the same procedure as I from that point on. Thanks.

wait one sec plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got .6641437102

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Did you take the reciprocal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u convert it tho?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You have a 1/x button on you calculator. Find it and use it.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Or just divide 1 by the number you posted.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Mertsj has shown exactly what is necessary for the conversion. See his post, above. That 1/x button takes the RECIPROCAL (not the conversion) of the sine of the angle in question.
