examine the continuity of f(x) = tan x in the interval 0<=x<=pi/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this function is continuous in this interval

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how to explain it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is continuous at every point in this interval [0,pi/4]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but don't we have to write lim x-> o+ and lim x->0- and lim x->pi/4+ and lim x-> pi/4-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

suppose i need to explain this in a copy..how should i explain it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A function f is said to be continuous on the closed interval if and only if it is continuous on the open interval , continuous from the right at a and continuous from the left at b.
