\[v^{2}=v_{0}^{2}+2a(x-x_{0})\] where v - is the end speed v0 is the initial speed a=g x0 is what you are looking for and x =0 . i think that should do it

if you are given the angle of impact i can be sure and the angle of the throw. than it's just ballistics\free fall
