Well, there's not much to know. After the bloody and horrible Cuban communist revolution in the 50s led by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, the U.S. placed a trade embargo on the country and we haven't done business with them since. In 1961, a bunch of Cuban refugees who fled to the U.S. after the communist takeover, was trained in combat by U.S. forces and planned to land on Cuba to re-take the country. Endorsed by President Kennedy, the landing was at the famous, "Bay of Pigs", thus, naming the invasion, the "Bay of Pigs Invasion." The invasion turned out to be a huge disaster and a blunder. In 1962, the Soviets set up a missile system in Cuba, and pointed them at the U.S., and we did the same with our missiles. This was the closest the two countries (U.S. and the Soviet Union) were at going to war. The standoff lasted 13 days. This event in history is known as the "Cuban missile standoff." The history has been cold, to put it delicately.
