Help!?! Describe two major differences between transverse and longitudinal waves. Give a practical example of each

OpenStudy (anonymous):

transverse waves have particle displacement that's perpendicular to the direction of the wave and longitudinal have particale displacement that's parallel to the direction of the wave

OpenStudy (roadjester):

Springs for example propogate in the direction of motion. Waves on strings propogate perpendicularly to the direction of motion.

yea thats a good example

sorry I wish I could give you both a medal.
