OpenStudy (anonymous):

whaat is the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two car washers, Lydia and Jackie, are working on your car. Lydia can complete the work in 2 hours, while Jackie can complete the work in 1 hour. How many hours do the car washers take if they work together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here are the answer choices 1/2 3/2 2/3 4/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/2 if they equally work on it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me how you got that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they split the job in half so. half of 1 hr is 0.5 hrs. half or 2 hrs is 1 hr so 0.5 hr + 1 hr = 1.5 hrs. 1.5 -----> 3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plus you can do the average. (1+2 hr) / 2 = 3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you think you could help me with one more question please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will become a fan if you can answer this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i can solve it then sure!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the axis of symmetry for f(x) = 2x2 − 8x + 8? x = −2 x = −3 x = 3 x = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt it 2 @drag0night

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yayyy i got it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finding the axis of symmetry you can use x= -b/2a so... x = -(-8)/2(2) x = 8/4 x = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x) = ax^2 + bx +c -----> f(x) = 2x^2 -8x +8 so a=2, b=-8, c=8 and just plug into the formula
