In a range of the following numbers, which would you take as the smallest number. 2, 6, -1, 14, -5, 18, 3

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

-5 would be the smallest

Why 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Well place the numbers in a number line mentally. What do you see? Even though we may think that -1 could've been it, in negative integers, the bigger number (on the positive scale) is really the smallest on the negative scale.
