what is ideology? How does it relate to voting? How does it create political parties?

An ideology is a belief that someone has.

Many political parties have certain ideologies, such as the Republican Party. The Republican Party does not support gay marriage, so a person who does not believe in gay marriage would be more likely to vote for the Republican Party. So a person's ideology influences who they vote for, and what members of what party they vote for.

A political party exists because there is a group of people who have similar ideologies that want to influence government policy
