how are the circulatory system in animals and plants alike?

I suppose in plants they're like veins and arteries--xylem and phloem...xylem is used to carry the water, which you can relate to perhaps veins as opposed to arteries since veins carry de-oxygenated blood. Phloem, which carries the sugar and starches can be compared to arteries, which carry the energy supply for the body in the form of oxygen.
