the area of the garden is 120+24 where 24 is the area of the shed, the area of the garden is also x(x+2) which is length by width. setting the two equal x(x+2)=144, just use your favorite method for solving the equation. Hint: the answer is a decimal so completing the square or using the quadratic formula is best.
