Has anyone read the excellent novel , 'Pompeii' by Robert Harris. it's about an aquarius (hydraulic engineer) of the Aqua Augusta, the aqueduct that supplies water to Pompeii and other towns. It is an historical fiction with a blend of fictional characters with the real-life eruption of Mount Vesuvius. It gives fascinating insights into Roman water architecture.

Thanks for this suggestion, Helena. I'm going to look for this book. I really like stories about pompeii. If you has interesting in this theme, I suggest the book Gradiva, by W. Jensen. Fred analysed this book. Did you know that Freud was fascinated about Pompeii too?
