what is 1/3x-5=12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/3x+5=12 subtract 5 from each side so you get 1/3x=7; now multiply by 3/1 to each side (3/1)(1/3x)=7(3/1) x=21 A=2r+8 subtract 8 from each side so you get a-8=2r; now divide by 2 to isolate r so you get a/2-4=r Now this is the same as yours, just they used addition, so all you have to do is follow there steps, so for subtract, you would add 5 to each side
