Angelica's service club is selling flowers for a fundraiser. Each flower costs them $0.50 to purchase. They set the sale price of each flower at the purchase price plus 40%. Write and solve an equation to determine how many flowers they will need to sell to make a profit of $500. Use complete sentences to explain what each number and variable in your equation represents. Write your solution in the context of the original problem.
HELP
Keep in mind that Profit = Revenue - Total Costs. The club has to purchase flowers, and the unit wholesale price is $0.50/flower. How much would it cost the club to purchase n flowers? That be Total Costs. By how much does the club "mark up" these flowers? What will the selling price be after this mark up takes effect? What would the Revenue be if n flowers are sold? Again: Profit = Revenue - (Total costs).
$500

I still dont get it
Dude, he described it perfictly
But it still seems confusing.. could you go through each step with me? Please
If I had the time, I would, but I am busy on school, just read it carefully over and over
:(
It costs them .50 cents for each flower they sell the flower for the purchase price + 40%... .50 + .40(50) = .50 + .20 = .70 so they sell the flowers for .70 cents. If they buy the flower for .50, and then sell them for .70, they make .20 cents profit off of each flower. They want to make a $500 profit. .20x = 500 -- divide by .20 x = 500/.20 x = 2500
x represents the number of flowers they need to sell
do you understand ?
oooh ok thank you so much!
no problem :)
