It's either personification or metaphor. My guess is personification because vomitting is a "person's" trait. It gives life to the volcano. (although it's a very odd sentence…)

personification. because you are giving the volcano the ability to vomit which could only happen with something that is alive.

It is a metaphor. A personification occurs when the subject does something exclusively human. Vomiting could be done by any mammal. On the other hand, a metaphor is a figurative description of a phenomenon: "he flew to the office". Now make your conclusions.
