Which of the following events caused the United States and the Soviet Union to develop nuclear-capable, long-range missiles? (4 points) Answer the discovery of enriched uranium the development of the hydrogen bomb the development of high-efficiency jet fuel the construction of Earth-orbiting satellites

I'd probably go with the last one -- the construction of Earth-orbiting satellites. When the Soviets put Sputnik into space, it surprised the US but it also shocked the military. If they could put something in orbit, that also told them just how far their rocket technology had come and that the US was behind.

I'll agree with you because you seem to be the one answering questions for history Thanks even if it is wrong you deserve the best answer. I thought they wanted to develop them because it make war easier.

but that wasnt an answer sooo i couldnt choose it D:

No prob, but that's the one answer I'd definitely pick for the reason why both sides decided to build long range missiles. It would make things a lot easier, I agree (why send bombers when you can send missiles). It's also why everyone was so concerned over North Korea launching a satellite in orbit -- their rocket tech had apparently improved. By doing that, they could use the same thing to build ICBMs.
