-_- There should be a science section set up like the Mathe section with sub sections.
Yah, they have Social Sciences, which covers Sociology, Communications, Law and the like. But it would be nice if they had ones for Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Etc.) and Life Sciences (Biology, Health, Zoology, Etc.)
I was politely telling someone who posted a science question in the math section that they where in the wrong section and they where very rude and snapped at me. Just over all science would be great
I hate getting snapped at for being polite
It would also make it a lot easier to track questions if all you had to do was follow just a few super groups to see most topics.
exactly my point
And yes, rude people are a problem. I really wonder what they think it helps to be that way.
i have no idea but it is not only upsetting but it makes me mad cuz all i did was be helpful and try to point them in the right direction. no one deserves to be treated in that way.
depending on the way they word it it could be considered Cyber bullying and they'd get in a lot to frouble for that
Yes, it really does border on that. I have gotten threats from people just for telling them about the Code of Conduct. Still, I think it is worth it to nudge them in the right direction as much as possible.
Ya ik
The subsections are a great unexploited resource on the site. They should be community curated. As in the bio group should be able to determine that it needs subsections for genetics, ecology, etc. And higher level users (or perhaps all users) should be able to classify other peoples' questions into subsections. Or users shouldn't be allowed to post unless they specify an appropriate subsection. One of OpenStudy's big problems is a crowding effect where things get washed away in a torrent of questions. Tutors need this. Students need this. Organisation would help the site grow very much.
Erll, for everything to have a subsection, every main section would need an "Other..." thiing. So math would have what it has and "Other Maths" to catch anything left out. Then subsection forcing would be possible.
I agree that a catchall "other" would be necessary in each discipline.
that would be great in my opinion
