The United States fought in WWI. Until the US entered the war, the Allies were loosing and loosing badly. In fact, because of superior artillery, the Germans were slaughtering the Allies at a ratio of two to one. That all changed when the US 2nd division ran smack into the main German offensive. With the US leading the fight, the Allies were able to launch a 500 mile offensive and the Germans at last cracked.
