what is a good new ending for the story beauty and the beast

I've been toying with the concept of a modernization of Beauty and the Beast for a while now, myself. There is always the possibility of playing the Stockholm Syndrome angle. This of course would not result in a Happily Ever After, but it is a different way of viewing the story.

Maybe man finds out about the beast, and they try to kill him, but before they kill him he turns back into a man. This could be the kings son, perhaps.
