Why would it require greater force to start a refrigerator moving than to start a dog moving?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because refrigerator has a greater inertia than dogs.inertia is the force posses by a body that tends to resist force applied..so u need to apply a greater force on a fridge than dogs.

Another explanation would be frictional. A fridge has more mass than a dog, therefore the Coulomb friction is greater. \[F_f = \mu mg \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because dog can walk alone:)

lolz..cant u attach tyres to refrigerators @ RaphealFilgueiras
