5x = 6x-8 Subtract 6x from both sides -6x -6x -1x=-8 Divide both sides by -1 x=8 -8/-1 = 8 Negatives cancel each other out

No they posted solve for x: then equation I don't think they meant for the x's to be so close :) I have never seen an equation w/ : colon in the middle :P

I thought is was a trinomial problem because there are three terms.
