Imagine the door to a theater is opened and you are standing outside. How is it possible that you can hear the sound of the movie or play, even if you cannot see the screen or stage

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because of the vibrations is the air caused by the sound of the play. Your ears are totally seperate from your eyes and recieve soundwaves regardless of whether the eyes are pointed toward the sourve or not. The soundwaves rebeverate through the gase molecules in the air causing vibrations that are pickup by your ears, thus you are able to hear without seeing.
