Without going into great detail, I will just say that I was born into a Muslim family, in a country that is ruled by Islamic law. I have and always will respect individuals but there is no reason why anyone should respect religion. That is like saying you should respect my political views even if they are extremely wrong and violent.

Islam may have made some positive contributions in seventh and eighth centuries in a society that lived incredibly barbarically, but in the modern world of the past few centuries it has NOT helped societies grow and instead has severely held us back.

We can start with child marriages; Muslims are encouraged to follow the path of their “holy” prophet. Even though child marriages were common in many societies back in the seventh century, people are able to acknowledge that times have changed. However, in the case of Muhammad, we have to respect and follow as he did! It’s one thing to deny how outdated religion is, but it is just shameful to demand respect for Muhammad. Yet, we are told that Muhammad’s ways in life should be the standard for all good Muslims!

The Islamic Hadith states that Aisha was married to Muhammad at the age of 6, and the marriage was consummated when she was 9, while Muhammad was 53, in Medina. All the Hadiths agree on this, with the exception of al-Tabari, which states that she was 10 at the time, like that makes a difference!

Reference from the Hadith: Sahih Bukhari Book 58, Number 236 states, “Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married 'Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old.”

Many Muslims who deny the authenticity of this Hadith, even though it recorded in all Islamic teachings, keep in mind that the rest of this book contains the material that defines the religion of Islam, and this is why both of my grandmothers were married to men in their 30s when they hadn’t even reached the age of 13.

Islam outlines harsh punishments for denying its teachings, advocates violence, intolerance and misogyny in the most severe forms. Yet, apologists, whether Muslim and non-Muslim, keep saying it’s a peaceful religion! Disregarding the countless number of violent punishments handed out to Muslims for not following its outdated laws, I would like to just focus on non-believers like myself for a minute. What if I don’t want to be a part of your archaic religion any longer? What if I’ve had enough? Do you know how many ex-Muslims are killed each year? The Quran (Chapter 4, verse 89) tells us, “They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.”

Well the interpretation of that, no matter how you look at it, would not sound very pleasant. In fact, many Muslim rulers have used this verse from the Quran to hand out death sentences to innocent individuals for the crime of choosing not to follow the pathetic religion which was imposed on them.

The Quran is full of errors, from the myths of creation and all the ridiculous fairy tales that were copied from Jewish and Christian texts, to making absolutely no justifiable scientific claims yet having Muslims consider the Quran a scientific miracle. Their idea of science is how the number of some chapter in the Quran that talks about bees, just coincidentally matches the chromosomes of a bee. If that is your definition of science, you don’t have the slightest idea what science is!

As science advances forward the educated, though brainwashed, Muslims who finally realize that there are so many errors in the Quran, just like all other outdated religious texts, will make excuses such as, “this was lost in translation”, or “that’s not what it really means”. Some will even go as far as changing the words around when translating it to English to reconcile it with reality. In fact those passages have already been changed a bit to make them sound a little less ridiculous. These are the same sort of pathetic excuses made by Christian apologists. But then they will take one tiny and irrelevant word or passage to make it seem like the Quran or the Bible contains science.

And that is not where it ends! Far from it in fact, what about all the Islamic conquests? Islam was spread through war, just read a bit of history, I don’t need to write it all down, but read about the Islamic conquest of Persia and that of the India subcontinent. Why do people follow specific religions, it’s because of the time and setting that they come, because of their families, and because of they are told. If I had been born in Japan, Brazil, or parts of India, I probably would not have been born a Muslim. It would be quite ignorant to deny the numerous sickening measures which have been used for spreading the word of god. Brutal tactics recorded throughout history are the root cause of why many people have taken on the faith that was imposed on their forefathers. Millions have and continue to go on following the religion of those who conquered their ancestors. Examples include Islam in Iran, as well as the Indian subcontinent, and Catholicism in South America. Typically, religious people are not even aware of the violence that led to a specific religion being a part of their lives. They tend to ignore how different their lives could have been if historical events had taken a slightly different shift many centuries ago. So why do ignore history and not question the validity of what one is told to believe, especially when it came at such a terrible detriment to our ancestors?

With passages such as, Quran 2:19, that says, “And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. And do not fight them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.” or Quran 24:2, which says, “The unmarried woman or unmarried man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah , if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment”, or Quran 32:4, which says, “It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days; then He established Himself above the Throne”, or Quran 5:51, which says, “O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people”. With such passages, why do Muslims want us to read the Quran?

Reading the Quran was one of the main reasons why we leave Islam, because it is the best way to realize how terrible this man-made cult is. Reading it more will just create more distain and detestation towards the religion! I know the typical response by Muslims is that these passages should not be taken out of context, but under what context is it okay to attack and kill someone just because they don’t share the same beliefs? Under what context is it okay to insult centuries of scientific research with such ridiculous claims? Under what context is it okay to flog people for simply enjoying the natural act of having sex if they are not married? I have read the Quran and the Bible, and that is one of the main reasons, amongst many, why I am an atheist.

I agree with khadeeja, I think ppl like u who don't have anything to do & come up with this.... and if u are 'Atheist' then i think you have no right to talk about any  other religion b coz u yourself don't have any religion.. so my piece of advice to u is that u should use this time in searching right religion for  ur self ... I hope u understood that when a person is wrong then he/she has no right to claim about other religion being right or wrong.... I strongly agree with @khadeeja @Rina.r @sarah786 and @ikram002p I just read half of what you wrote, and you seem confusing religion with tradition. It shows signs that you did your effort, but I’m not willing to read criticisms of Islam that I myself have analyzed. My suggestions is, don't forget the century the Quran took place in, the historical events and traditions that existed and keep in mind, some still exists today. And because it took place during the time of Prophet Mohammed (pbuh), during the time Islam first emerged, some Muslims tends to confuse culture as part of religion. Why? Because Prophet Mohammed was used to these kind of traditions. His whole society practiced this culture because that's how people lived and people's thoughts change overtime. Oh, and by the way, people were usually wiser and mature back then compared to now. You said that you just read a bit of history. Well, how about reading it more so you can have a better understanding of what the society looked like during that time. How historical events that took place in the 7th century, the period of the Quran and Islam, influenced people's thoughts and decisions. Then start comparing and contrasting people's behavior back then and now, but I’ll guarantee you'll see a complete difference. Oh, and the Messenger Mohammed isn’t the only one who practiced this type of tradition, other prophets too. Try doing some research on other prophet’s lives and you’ll see a great resemblance. After all, the same historical periods, the similar traditions done. A 9 years old girl in the 7th century is different from a modern 9 yrs old girl. All these users that responded to you, felt like you missed a whole lot of important information on Islam and its teachings. I'm an atheist I don't need to disprove god because you have no proof to prove him. I can wager you that you will never find a atheist converting to islam, because the Quran is riddled with lies. Science emphasise rationalism and reason, religion does not. Maybe back in history times religion was needed now days it is more of a hinderence then benifet. I'm not narrow minded so please tell me what did I miss from Islam? When I finished reading the Quran I felt more stress than relief. That the idea of my friend would go to hell for not being Muslim. What type of mercy is that? It wasn't his fault he was born Christian. We take our religion from our parents and defend it, we don't actually hold it to heart. A study showed that most american-muslims don't even pray. Also when you say, "A 9 years old girl in the 7th century is different from a modern 9 yrs old girl." That is a lie, SCIENCE TELL US THIS. It is the word of reason that is what science is, and it conflicts with religion. A 9 year old girl, is 9 years old believe it or not you can't denie that, that is wrong. Mohammed wasn't wise he used people for self-benieft. All religions do. That is why you will never find a person willing to say they were an atheist that became a theist or muslim. Atheist understand that god is a silly thing our brains made up to scare us into subbmison.

Well, let me tell you my opinion. We are not here to judge others for their opinions, Allah knows the best. Islam (like any other religion) is meant for a person to embrace on his/her daily basis, to show gratitude and love for Allah and their surroundings through their prayers and good deeds. 

Making good deeds is a reward, making evil deeds is a punishment. 
And it’s all up to you
And Allah is the Final Judge.

Look at 13:3 And it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. "who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains" That is not science but lies. The earth is a geoid not a flat board. We are looking for REAL things that prove the quran The quran is saying the earth is flat but is held down by mountains. 2# The Atheist in ur country would not have converted to Islam.... but i know in Australia 1000 of them had converted to Islam.... Why would god give me a body but tell me to cover up? The first time I took off my hijab I finally felt freedom. Why would god create bisexuals if they were going to go to hell? I can't help it that I found other girls attractive I was BORN that way it wasn't my choice. When I left Islam I could finally publicly claim ownership of my own body, breaking the taboo, and finding joy, peace, and celebration in doing things that you would have had your blood spilled for thinking of or attempting to do– and doing it publicly when you were denied self expression your entire life– this is meaningful in the way that poems and stories are. @InspiredAtheist so That energy which I have mentioned proves existence of GOD. Rea Quran ayat-ul-kursi in chapter no 3. وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ (means his (ALLAH) chair is surrounding the universe as I have mentioned Energy is present every where and you agreed with that.   الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ means he (Allah) lives for-ever as I mentioned above that science says energy can neither be created nor destroyed. لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ (Allah doesn't feel sleepy nor yawn as energy doesn't have characteristic of living beings because he (ALLAH) is perfect). I also said that energy is running the universe and taking care of this universe لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ you agreed. You don't believe in Islam but you believe in science you said I have proved that science shows ALLAH THE ALL MIGHTY exists and n one can deny from this truth. No you should agree Allah exists or you will be a liar because you said you believe in science and I proved it in scientific way. any thing you want to ask just ask me I will give you answer.
