How do cells use mitosis to make new cells?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

they make a copy if itself and pass its genetic information onto another cell that carries the same material as the other cell(s).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

more specifically, the cell goes through the different phases(Interphase, Prophase, metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, and Cytokenisis.). Basically the DNA of one cell is replicated to create 2 identical sets of DNA in one cell, then with Cytokenisis the cell splits into 2 diferent cells( each one has a copy of the DNA) that are completely identical.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mitosis is the process, in the cell cycle, by which a cell duplicates into two genetically alike daughter cells. In mitosis, chromosomes in the cell nucleus are separated into two identical sets of chromosomes, each in its own nucleus. Therefore to be simple this is how new cells are made.
