(BRASS INSTRUMENT BEGINNER)Is the trumpet a good instrument to play and how come when you play all the notes they sound the same...?

"Is the trumpet a good instrument to play?" I would say it's among the hardest of the brass instruments, and requires a good pair of lungs to play.

"how come when you play all the notes they sound the same...?" Well, that depends on how you play the trumpet.

Lets give a quick lesson in sound physics, something all brass/woodwind players should know.

When you have a pipe, and you send a sound vibration through it, the sound will come out deeper, if the pipe is longer:



Hence, when you open and close the valves of the trumpet, the distance that the vibrations travel becomes greater, making the sound deeper, and vice versa.

Then also comes the positioning of your tongue... that plays a very important role in the sound that is outputed.
