Which of the following BEST explains why an author might choose to have a hero die at the end of the story?

I don't know what the following multiple choices are, but one reason would be how the character is nobil enough to sacrifice self. I think it makes the story more powerful, because of the emtions that run through us when we learn he or she dies (like sadness). I don't know if this helps :)
