1.) The Yeoman farmer was no longer a factor in Roman Politics. When the soldiers returned home their farms had been sold to feed their families or were in such dilapidated state and so far in debt that the farmer himself sold the farm to pay debts and went back into the ARmy. 2.) The Roman Soldier became a professional, a permanent fixture. He was no longer a levee who would fight for the duration of the war and then return home when the war ended. He was in the Army for the duration.
