so
2x* x^2 and 2x*4
Keep your sign because the sign of 2x (+) is opposite of 4 (-).
If signs are both (+) its (+) if signs are both (-) final sign is positive.
Anyway,
2x(x^2 - 4)
2x^3 -8x
