What makes OS run so poorly?

For hours all I could see was the loading symbol. There aree websites that are much bigger than OS, and they work fine. So again, my question is: Why does OS run so slowly at times, and at other times won't load at all.

Clogged up database. Can't delete anything, or smartscore gets screwed up

Yes they have lots of updates but also I have decided that OS is a girl and has its "time" every month, and sometimes it happens more than just one week a month. That's just how OS chooses to be. Not much we can do about it :/
