When discussing Carbohydrates in lecture 2, the professor refers to 'n-1' Carbon. What is he referring to? He then goes on to refer to n=3...n=5

The "n" refer to the number of carbon present. For example,in the compound Glucose we have n=6 implying that a molecule of glucose contain 6 carbon atoms
