When a spring is compressed, will the distance,x, from the equilibrium positive or negative?

@agent0smith

sup

OpenStudy (roadjester):

The k value is always negative is its a restorative force. Is that what you're asking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F=-kx... I want to what will happen to x, if I compressed the spring

OpenStudy (roadjester):

Then x is negative. Since both x and k are negative, that means F is positive because the F wants to "restore" the spring back to equillibrium.

ok thanks
