A line passes through the origin and has a slope of 4. What is the equation of the line that is parallel to the first line and passes through the point (1, –2)? A. y = 4x + 9 B. y = –4x + 2 C. y = 4x – 6 D.
First, a couple of questions for you: (1) what can you say about the slopes of two lines that are known to be parallel? (2) What will the slope of the new line be? How do you know? (3) Given the slope of a line and the coordinates of one pt. through which the line passes, into which of the several forms for the eq'n of a straight line would you substitute these values?
idk thats why im asking you the answer :)
whats the answer ??
Neither of us will be giving you the answer: that accomplishes nothing. We will help you find it, however. How do you know if two lines are parallel? How would you describe a pair of parallel lines?
This is the point when you type something :-)
