Which graph has the same intercepts as the equation: 18x + 24y = -72?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

To find the x and y intercept of a lines, substitute 0 for y and x and solve for the other variable. The y intercept is the value of y where x=0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forgot about that, thank you!

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

What's the answer you found?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The fourth. y = -3 x = -4

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Sure about that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18(0) + 24y = -72 0 + 24y = -72 24y/24y = y -72/24 = -3 18x + 24(0) = -72 18x + 0 = -72 18x/18x = x -72/18 = -4 ??

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I ask because that doesn't correspond to the 4th graph...

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Remember, the x axis is the horizontal one...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH its the third one sorry i got the numbered answers and forgot about x and y xD

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Yes, that was a trap set for the unwary! :-)
