How can I help you? or May I help you? which one is right?

OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

I think that both are correct. I'm not completely sure though. ._.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both are indeed correct, it depends in which sentence you use them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Proper English would be, "How may I help you?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends on content... both are correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends on the situation .. but both are correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both are complete sentences and ask similar questions. :) If you're aiming for politeness, some people consider "May I help you?" to be more polite. If you wanted to go the extra mile and combine them, you could use "How may I help you?"
