2/-4 = 20/x cross multiply 2x = (20)(-4) 2x = -80 x = -40
set up something like a proportion: so if y = 2(x) = 20 x would = 10 and if you multiply -4 x 10 ur answer is -40
If y = 36 when x = 9, find x when y = 52
04 / 2 = -2. 20 x -2 = -40. Thus, x = -40 when y = 20
