What is the function of an Erlenmeyer flask?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Erlenmeyer flasks are used to measure, mix and store liquids. They are one of the most common and useful pieces of chemistry lab glassware. Most of these flasks are made of borosilicate glass so that it can be heated or autoclaved. They are shaped conically so that they can be used to mix fluids with a lesser chance of spilling than a beaker. Its bottom is flat such that it can stand by itself as opposed to spherical bottom flasks. The flat bottom makes it easy to put on a stirring device which rotates a magnet in flask. Hope this helps
