What is the value of 12 + 4 • 3 – 15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

33?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is 9. start by multiplying. 4 times 3 is 12.Then add. 12+12 is 24. and 24-15 is 9.

thank you! (5 • 8 – 12)(36 ÷ 9 • 4) ????? sorry dont mean to sound greedy!

You're welcome. Alright, in this one first start with the first set. Start by multiplying. 5 times 8 is 40. 40 minus 12 is 28. So 28 is in the first set of paretheses. In the second set start by multiplying 9 by 4, which is 36. 36 divided by 36 is 1. So 1 is in the second set. Then you have (28) (1) 28 multiplied by 1 is 28 :)
