a tennis player hits a ball 1 meter above the ground with a velocity of 20 meters per second. When will the ball hit the ground?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at what angle? straight up?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I would guess horizontally...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe that it is horizontally, it doesn't say specifically though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if horizontally final position = 0 = 1 meter - (1/2)(9.8m/s^2) t^2

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Solve that for \(t\), then find the horizontal distance traveled by \(d = st\) where \(s = 20 \text{ m/s}\)
