Given equation A as 2x+1/4y=3 and equation B as 2/3x-y=6, which expression will give the value of y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. A − 3B B. A − 3/2B C. 2A − 3B D. 1/3A + B

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So it's basically using the elimination method without saying it... If you multiply the second equation (B) by 3 and leave the first equation (A) alone...and then subtract them...you will eliminate the 'x' thus solving for 'y' ...so in this case your answer is A... Does that make sense?
