In seven to ten complete sentences, explain the purpose for including support from a primary and secondary resource in comparison/contrast writing.
@e.mccormick
OK, so, which part of this is confusing you?
Ik a primary source is very credible and makes your writing more accurate.
i guess a secondary source gives someone else's opinion?
Ah, well. The primary is someone directly involved. So lets say you talk to a scientist about their work. That is a primary source. Then you write about. Someone quotes your writing. That is a secondary source. So news is a secondary source, but a journal article by someone on their thing is primary.
So yah, what you said is essentially correct.
i need 7 sentences to explain that? what bs.
Well, you need to relate it to comparison and contrast writing.
um
That is where you take two things and evaluate them against each other. http://writingcenter.unc.edu/handouts/comparing-and-contrasting/
because you have to show factual data and how someone else may interpret it for a comparison?
cries bcuz hard
Well, lets say you were not the first person to contrast things. Can you think of a good use for secondary sources then?
Lets say you were to take two blockbuster movies. You have heard it said that they are a lot alike. So, you decide to do an in depth look into them. Now, your primary sources could be the movies, but also any direct statements by the people involved. The secondary sources would be all the reviews and comments on the movies. So, can you think of different ways you would use those assorted sources?
yes, to argue your point of they are very different
Or to show where they are both alike and different. And to take bits of other reviews and contest them or use them as support. A Comp and Con is not taking a real stance as much as it is doing a deeper look.
ok thanks! :)
