find two numbers the product is -10 and the sum is 3.. a*b=-10 a+b=3 try 5 and -2, the order doesn't matter 5*-2=-10 5+(-2)=3 x^2+ (5x-2x) -10=0 x^2-2x+5x-10=0 x(x-2) + 5(x-2)=0 (x+5)+(x-2)=0 roots are -5 and 2
