First Off The Conditions Were Dirty And Dusty, No Protection Against Dangerous Equipment Their Were 16 Hour Shifts An 12 Year Olds Worked On These Shifts As Well. Noisy Machines Drowned Out All Conversation Or Warnings. They Had Low Pay And No Unions Could Be Fired. Some People Lost Arms And Fingers.

Life Conditions Were Horrible For The Workers. This workforce of thousands came from struggling farms willing to put their daughters to work to bring in extra income. The typical girl was young, white, unmarried, between 15 and 30 years of age, and sometimes as young as seven years of age. They were neither homeless nor of aristocracy; and from a farm that would benefit from extra income. Most Lowell girls spent the majority of their income home for the benefit of their menfolk. Employees worked from 5:00 am until 7:00 pm, for an average 73 hours per week. Each room usually had 80 women working at machines,(More About The Conditions) Also Some Of The Effects Like I Said Previously Are Like Losoing Arms And People Dying Cause Of Fires And Loud Machinery Where They Couldnt Hear The Warnings
