Tina bought a coat that cost $70.00. The sales tax in her state is 6%. What is the final amount that Tina has to pay for the coat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

$74.20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70*.06=4.2 70+4.2=$74.20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70*.06=4.2 70.00+4.2=74.20

Good point...

OpenStudy (mathmale):

John: Final cost = Purchase price + Tax, or, as erhaerha has shown, $70.00+$4.2=$74.20. Another way of doing this would be to write (1 + 0.06)*$70, which would produce the same result.
