For one, you should do what you are told to do. When Odysseus and his crew landed in Helios, they ate the cattle despite Odysseus's warnings not to. Odysseus was the only one who knew of the consequences. So a thunderbolt came and drowned every single member of Odysseus's ship except Odysseus

Yep, lol. Another would be to be more humble. The reason Odysseus was on this trip was because he thought he was better than the gods. Poseidon got angry so he put many obstacles in Odysseus's way. :)
