How did General Douglas MacArthur react to the events in Korea? What was his stance on the Korean War?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He immediately commited US military forces in the region to a combat role against the North Korean invasion - without waiting for (or even seeking) prior Presidential approval.Later, when the Chinese had entered the war and things weren't going so well,he wanted to use nuclear weapons on a wide scale against Communist forces in North Korea. MacArthur's stance was that the Communists had to be decisively defeated in military terms, using any and all US military forces and weapons available.
