What is 4 and 2/7 *2 and 1/5 A. 8 and 2/35 B. 8 and 1/7th C. 9 and 1/7th D. 9 and 3/7th

OpenStudy (mathmale):

think back: What techniques have you used to combine fractions with different denominators?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lcd I got 35 and so I tihnk it's A or B

OpenStudy (aa123):

hi

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'd be happy to guide you towards finding a tentative result; then you can compare it to the four answer choices. Mind showing your work?

OpenStudy (aa123):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi @aa123 and yes i'll show my work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4*2=8 and 2*1=2.. And for 35 I just thought of what is the lcd and it's 35

OpenStudy (aa123):

ok

OpenStudy (aa123):

the answer is

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Have you, @jada1701877 , evaluated that denominator, 7^2?

OpenStudy (aa123):

medal me

OpenStudy (aa123):

also i think that the answr is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 isn't a denominator and @aa123 why should I give you a medal you aren't helping.

OpenStudy (aa123):

A

OpenStudy (aa123):

i just gave you the answer dude

OpenStudy (aa123):

i did @jada1701877

OpenStudy (aa123):

is it right @mathmale

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Show your work please

OpenStudy (aa123):

ok

OpenStudy (aa123):

bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused.Where did 1/(7*2) come from?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@jada1701877 : I misread what you'd typed. The middle fraction is 1/(7*2), not 1/(7^2) as I had first read it. You have 4 (a whole number), 2/(7*2) (a fraction with denominator 14), and 1/5 (a fraction with denom. 5). Note that 2/(7*2) reduces to 1/7. Sorry: I had this wrong in my last post.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Then add up: 4 + (1/7 + 1/5).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You were right all along: And for 35 I just thought of what is the lcd and it's 35 Again, my apologies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh it's alright. We all make mistakes but thanks for the time and for helping me anyways :)
