Can someone give a tip on how to get better at vocabulary????
Read the dictionary. Seek out people with a good vocabulary. Talk to them as much as you can. Read good writers. Get a list of words to study for the SAT or such. Learn and use a new word each day. Be concise and precise in your writing. Force yourself to look for better and shorter ways to express your ideas. Cut out profanity. If you hit your thumb with a hammer and can't say *&^% or )#$% you will force yourself to express your frustration, anger and pain in another way. Lazy labels are the same as profanity. N-word, most racist words, and the like are lazy labels.

There are lots of web sites on college level grammar: http://depts.washington.edu/engl/askbetty/10main.php And lots of general writing things: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/ Those types of sites can help. Also, a thesaurus can be better than a dictionary. That way you can learn about words that are similar. This can greatly improve grammar. Go through some college level text that covers an assortment of topics: http://plato.stanford.edu/contents.html Pick some article at random. Go over it and find things you do not understand. Look up the terms and find the meaning. Keep at this until you can truly grasp what is being said. Summarize it. Make notes about any grammar or concept you find interesting or odd. It may take an hour or a month depending on the length of the article and how much effort you put in. Once done with one, repeat on another. Eventually the working through those article will bring up your level of skill. It will not be fast, but it will be very good preparation for college level reading and writing.
